In recent years, substitute material cultivation has become the dominant method for cultivating edible and medicinal mushrooms. Unlike traditional wood-based methods, this technique uses a specially prepared growth medium made by mixing sawdust with specific additives and water. The mixture is then packed into plastic bags or bottles and sealed, followed by sterilization, cooling, inoculation, and cultivation. Once the mycelium matures, the mushrooms are transferred to industrial or seasonal growing setups.
This method offers several advantages over traditional cultivation. It is more cost-effective, scalable, and efficient, making it ideal for both large commercial farms and smaller seasonal operations. Bag-type cultivation is particularly popular in China, with plastic bags being inexpensive, versatile, and easy to adjust in size. This system is widely used in China, but is also gaining traction in other regions due to its scalability and heat dissipation advantages.
Another option is bottle-type cultivation, where high-temperature-resistant plastic bottles are used. These bottles are durable, reusable, and can be stacked without being punctured by sawdust, making them a suitable choice for high-output operations. Though the initial investment is higher, their longevity and reliability make them a cost-effective option for long-term use.
At Satrise, we provide both bag and bottle-based cultivation systems to suit various global needs. Our equipment is designed to enhance productivity, reduce operational costs, and support sustainable mushroom farming, regardless of where you are in the world.
